1) Registration
Register your Peace Party at Peace Action's Out of Afghanistan Peace Party Center. This will add your Peace Party to our searchable list of parties taking place across the country. It will also allow you to easily edit your Peace Party's logistical details, promote your Peace Party to friends and family, and communicate with people who RSVP to attend your Peace Party.
Please register your Peace Party even if you don't plan to use Peace Action’s online tools. We can demonstrate the breadth of support for ending the war in Afghanistan by documenting the number of parties that take place and how many people turn out for the parties.
2) Date, Time & Location
We suggest that you allow about two weeks to plan your Peace Party. Give your guests time to put your Peace Party on their calendar. You can decide how long the gathering will last -- our suggested agenda takes less than 2 hours.
If possible, use your own house for the Peace Party. Gatherings in homes have a warm, inviting feel. If you do not have a home large enough to hold the expected number of guests, consider hosting the Peace Party at a friend or relative’s house. Co-hosting can be really fun. Alternatively, you might reserve a room in an appropriate community space such as a local community center, senior center, or church space. Many public spaces are available for free.
3) Little Help from Friends
You may want to recruit people to help throughout the planning process and the Peace Party hosting, or even find a co-host. Some tasks you may be able to share include:
Inviting people
Preparing your home
Facilitating the group discussions
Timekeeping
